  • How can I pray for and support the Pastor Search Committee?

March 1, 2026 the CCCM Congregation entered into a covenant agreement with the Pastor Search Committee stating the following:

    • We covenant to pray for you collectively and individually; fervently, daily, and specifically to the best of our ability - Col. 1:9-12; Col. 3:1-3; I Thess. 5:16-25
    • We covenant to trust God to guide your deliberations, steps, and timing for His will. Isaiah 55:8-11
    • We covenant to respect your sacred commission and support you in your work. Galatians 5:24-25
    • We covenant to let you do your work in trust, and without manipulation or pressure. Jeremiah 10:23
    • We covenant to delight  ourselves in the Lord, to beg God to let us taste and see His goodness, and when temptations come, to hear that Fatherly voice whisper, "I have something better for you." - Ps. 34; Luke 12:29-32; John 14:25-28; Romans 15:13
  • How can the Pastor Search Committee support the congregation?

March 1, 2026 the congregation-elect Pastor Search Committee entered into a covenant agreement with the congregation stating the following:

    • We covenant to look to God and diligently pray, listen, fast, and study so as to feed on the Bible and hear our Father's voice - Ps. 25; Ps. 85:7-8; John 10:27-30
    • We covenant to do those things as a means of Grace to serve you as we seek out our next teaching elder; to lead His beloved congregation, for His glory and our benefit. John 13:12-17; Romans 12:9-13
    • We covenant to  not rely solely on our hard work, but to rest on the finished work of Jesus Christ our Lord, and gratefully accept the Holy Spirit's counsel Who is ever speaking, guiding, and pointing us back to Jesus and His word. Galatians 5:22-25
    • We covenant to delight in the different strengths that the nine members of our Pastor Search Committee bring, and be thankful that those strengths differ and vary among us.  We also expectantly look for God's power to be made perfect in our weaknesses.  We promise to make every effort to debate well, listen well, stand firm in all things essential, and avail ourselves of the whole counsel of God to the extent that Abba has given us the ability. - Heb. 12:1-3, 14, 15
    • We covenant to lay aside any personal agendas and collectively seek the mind of Christ; His perfect will and timing for Christ Community Church and our future teaching pastor. Proverbs 3:5-8; I Cor. 2:15, 16
  • How long with the search process take?

CCCM has a history, by God's grace, of long tenured pastors.  In the last sixty-seven (yes 67) years we have had only two senior pastors. This is the first Pastor Search Committee that has ever been elected by CCCM to conduct a search.

The Ministerial Committee of the EPC Central Carolinas has advised us:  "No doubt, many of you will feel pressure to find and install a new pastor as soon as possible.  The Session and members of the church will expect quick action. However, the old saying, "Act in haste, repent in leisure" is particularly relevant in this situation.  God loves your church and will, in His own time, provide the right leader - if you are willing to wait - for your church to flourish.  Do not rush this process!"

The PSC is thankful that the Session has elected to hire a transitional pastor allowing time for God to reveal His perfect will for CCCM.

The Ministerial Committee further stated, "While situations vary widely, expect your pastoral search to take a year or more from commissioning the Pastoral Search Committee to the installation of your new pastor."

  • What is the process if I want to nominate an individual for the Senior Pastor position?

If a congregant knows of a person whom they believe God has chosen to lead our church, they are asked to do the following:

    • Contact the prospective candidate and talk with them about why you believe they would be the right teaching elder for CCCM.
    • Ask them to prayerfully consider and let them know you are praying as well.
    • Direct them to the Employment section on our website where they will be informed of our EPC Book of Order, Westminster Confession of Faith, Pastor Job description, and application process.
    • Please do not give names to members of the PSC.
