Firm Foundations: The Gospel

Sermon Questions: Ephesians 2:1-10

Pastor David Taylor

  1. Read (or sing!) the words Amazing Grace. What line or verse touches you most deeply?
  2. How does someone become a Christian? (Share the gospel in your own words)
  3. Share your testimony! How did you first experience the gospel? Who showed you what grace looks like? How are you different now than you were before you accepted Jesus?
  4. “The gospel is fundamental to the Christian faith.” Do you think this is true? Why or why not?
  5. What do you think it means that we were “dead in our trespasses and sins.” How would you put that in your own words?
  6. If the gospel is about what God does (and not what we do), how might that set you free?
  7. Share an illustration (real or in a movie, book, etc.) of someone who did not get what they deserved and it changed them for the better.
  8. “The gospel that saves us is the gospel that keeps saving us.” What does it look like for the gospel of grace to continue to minister to you?
  9. How does the gospel give you what you need to love your enemy and/or forgive the unforgivable?
