Sermon Questions: 2 Timothy 3:12-17
Pastor David Taylor
- What is the biggest change/challenge you’re facing right now? How might the Bible help during seasons of change or hardship?
- What persecution have you faced (or are currently facing) that is directly related to your walk with Jesus?
- Do you turn to the Bible when facing hardship? Do you have a verse you cling to?
- Paul celebrates that Timothy had Lois and Eunice (his grandmother and mother) to read scripture to him while he was growing up. Who first taught you the Bible? What’s one thing you learned from them?
- One summary of the reliability of scripture is LAMPS (Logical Coherence, Archaeological Evidence, Manuscript Support, Prophecies Fulfilled, and the Spirit’s Testimony). Which of these do you find most encouraging? What questions do you have about the Bible’s reliability?
- The Bible tells the story of God’s rescue in four parts: Creation - Fall - Redemption - Restoration. How does seeing your life as part of this greater story bring you encouragement?
- David claimed that “knowing Scripture isn’t fundamentally about knowing scripture.” What do you think he meant? What is knowing Scripture fundamentally about?
- Read vs. 16-17 again. What “good work” is God equipping you for through the teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training of God’s Word?
- We all need encouragement and accountability when it comes to reading the Bible. What are some ways your group could covenant to read the Bible more?
